Heather began her career in International Development in 2009 as Operations Manager for the Purdue Improved Cowpea Storage (PICS) project. Her tenure in IPIA has evolved from working solely on the PICS project to a portfolio of Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, USAID, and USDA-funded projects. The projects are based in West and Central Africa, East Africa, South America as well as Afghanistan and include research, extension, and business components. She has on the ground experience in West and Central Africa, East and Southern Africa and South Asia.
In her current role as Managing Director of IPIA and as a representative of the university, she cultivates and strengthens institutional relationships with donors, partner organizations, and other collaborators in the international research and engagement arena to develop partnership project bases. Her portfolio includes major US donors and foundations, international and local NGOs, government agencies abroad, universities in the US and abroad, the private sector, and cross-campus relationships.
Heather is an adjunct professor at Ivy Tech community College teaching courses in Business Management and Accounting. She holds a B.A. in Political Science and French from Indiana University and a MBA in Management from Indianan Wesleyan University. She speaks fluent French.
