Assistant Professor - Plant Bioactives and Human Health
Position: Tenure-track Assistant Professor (9 month) position in Food Science. The successful candidate will join
a 23-member faculty in the Department of Food Science, housed in the Philip E. Nelson Hall of Food Science on
the main campus of Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana.
Qualifications: Ph.D. in Food Science, Nutrition, Chemistry/Biochemistry, Biology/Microbiology, Immunology,
Pharmacology, or other related field. A strong commitment to research and teaching in the area of botanicals
with an emphasis on the chemistry/analysis and processing of phytochemicals as they relate to biological systems,
health and disease. Strong teaching, communication, teamwork, leadership, and problem solving skills. High
potential for establishing an externally funded research program.

Assistant/Associate Professor - Food Safety Extension Specialist and Researcher
Position: Tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor position at Purdue University with extension and research responsibilities (9-month academic year appointment plus two months of summer pay due to primary Extension appointment). The successful candidate will join a 23-member faculty in the Department of Food Science housed in Philip E. Nelson Hall of Food Science on the main campus of Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana.
Qualifications: Ph.D. in food science, food microbiology, microbiology, food engineering, or related field required. Candidates will be strongly considered who have research interests associated with food-related microorganisms (probiotics, viruses, fermentation, spoilage, and current and emerging foodborne pathogens). Applicants should have excellent communication skills, the ability to work in teams and solve problems, and the ability to work in collaborative environments for effective interchanges with clients, regulatory agencies, and media. Preference for candidates with knowledge and experience in microbiological, chemical and/or toxicological aspects of food safety.
