Description:
The successful candidate will develop, coordinate and maintain an enterprise level Windows, MacOS, Linux and Solaris environment as part of an integrated College of Agriculture IT team effort in support of research, teaching and outreach goals of the Department of Botany and Plant Pathology. The successful applicant is expected to keep up with and understand new and emerging technologies, and communicate and assist in the adoption of such new technologies.
Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering/Technology, Computer Science or related field.
  • Three years of professional experience in one or more of the following areas: Windows, MacOS, Linux, or Solaris systems administration.
  • Consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of related education and required work experience.
  • Hardware maintenance of advanced computer, peripherals, and networking systems.
  • Proficient in working with a variety of programming languages.
  • Responsible to manage, develop, and maintain the department's computer resources.
  • Possess ability to diagnose and troubleshoot problems on a variety of computing environments.
  • Familiar with enterprise authentication and security practices, software patching, imaging, and redistribution techniques, and backup/restore solutions.
  • Ability to provide software/hardware analysis, development, purchasing, training, and consultation for faculty, staff, and students.
  • Programming emphasis has been on web design, multimedia courseware, mobile and distance learning development, and databases.
  • Leadership skills to represent the department on College and University activities.
  • Excellent people skills and a facilitating personality will be critical for success.
  • Ability to lift and carry 25-50 pounds frequently and 60 pounds occasionally.
