21 Questions for Elizabeth Simmermeyer

2. Where did you go to high school? Franklin County High School

3. What is your major/concentration? Animal Sciences - Animal Agribusiness

4. What is your expected graduation date? May 2020

5. Why did you choose Purdue for undergrad? I came for 4-H RoundUp in 7th grade and fell in love with programs, atmosphere, staff and what Purdue had to offer. 

6. What are your plans after graduation? Get a job in agricultural business - not totally sure where, but I want to work with others to put ideas together.

7. What is your 'spirit animal?' Cat

8. What is your favorite organization joined at Purdue? Poultry Club

9. What is your proudest achievement at Purdue? Successfully placing bat houses at Purdue (McCormick Woods and Horticulture Park) for a global leadership and action class project after the instructor told us it couldn't be done.

10. What was your favorite class taken at Purdue? ANSC 245 - Animal Nutrition with Dr. Dale Forsyth

11. What is your favorite Purdue tradition? The rivalry with IU Elizabeth with goat in Peru

12. What is the best thing about the College of Ag? Everyone is friendly and willing to help each other out - we all want to help each other succeed!

13. What is the best thing about the Department of Animal Sciences? Familiar faces - students, staff and professors

14. What is the best on-campus study spot? My dorm because it's comfortable and home-like.

15. What is your favorite place in town? McCormick Woods because it's peaceful.

16. What is the most important thing you've learned outside of the classroom? Don't get caught up in the past - look forward to and work towards the future. 

17. Where did you study abroad and where do you hope to go next?

  • Summer 2016: Global Leadership and Action for incoming freshman in Peru - visited Lima, explored the Amazon, hiked Machu Picchu, and visited Cusco
  • Spring Break 2018: plan to go on Agriculture in Ireland trip Elizabeth at Honors College
​18. What internship experiences have you had? 
  • Summer 2017: Franklin County Purdue Extension Office
  • Fall 2017: Created a job in the Indiana State Poultry Association office & volunteered at Columbian Park Zoo
19. What is your favorite quote? "Everything will be OK in the end. If it's not OK, it's not the end." - John Lennon

20. What are your hobbies? Going to concerts, crafting (scrapbooking & painting canvases), and talking walks

21. What advice would you give to incoming students? Meet people and make friends outside of the College of Ag because you'll learn so much from them - where they came from, their opinions/views, ad their perspectives on the agricultural industry.
