Courtney Bir completed her M.S in Agricultural Economics at Oklahoma State University in 2013, and is currently in her fourth year of the Ph.D program in Agricultural Economics here at Purdue. Prior to her graduate work Courtney completed B.S. Degrees in Agricultural Economics/Ag Business and Animal Science at Oklahoma State University.
Courtney Bir's research, under the supervision of Dr. Nicole Olynk Widmar, combines eliciting consumer preferences for agricultural products, and traditional production economics to attempt to determine if consumer’s preferences regarding production processes can be profitably incorporated or adopted by producers. In conjunction with her own research, Courtney serves as a mentor for undergrad students pursuing research. She is also the TA for AGEC 310 Farm Organization, holding office hours, assisting in the development of homework and exams, and lecturing selected class periods. She is also a source of support for other graduate students with respect to her area of expertise in consumer demand modeling.
