Job Title: Research Maintenance Personnel
Department/Location of Position: R&D/Frankfort, IN
Position Reports To: Burton Russell Farm Coordinator
Minimum Starting Wage: Depends on experience
Primary Job Responsibilities:
Maintain confined swine barns/ equipment, Research equipment, and farm machinery on a daily basis
Preventative Maintenance throughout the farm
Responsible for ordering and maintaining an organized inventory of basic maintenance materials
Responsible for planning, collecting estimates, ordering needed materials, seeking approval/review from Farm
Coordinator on all maintenance projects.
Provide a central location to house and keep stocked required tools needed by Barn Caretakers
Locate outside contractors to schedule approved repairs when needed
Keep timed/dated maintenance logs concerning generators, machinery, and basic repairs including the original
issue and how the issue was resolved.
Educate Barn Caretakers on preventative barn maintenance and minor repairs.
Keep shop area clean and free of hazards
Act and reflect consciously of safety at all times
Communicate maintenance needs, ideas, and concerns to Farm Coordinator
In order to apply for this position, the candidate must meet the following requirements:
Skill & Knowledge Requirements:
1-2 years experience in animal research methods and/or swine production
Knowledge of animal research procedures and protocols
OSHA 32 Hour Certified Training
BS Degree in Animal Science or equivalent professional experience
Ability to lift 60 lbs or more occasionally
Agility to avoid direct physical contact with unpredictable animals
Ability to work in dirty environments enduring changing temperatures.
Interest or passion for animal research
Excellent interpersonal & communications skills with ability to work effectively with others in a positive manner
Excellent time management & organizational skills, with ability to meet deadlines
Self motivated and able to perform job duties without close supervision
Excellent analytical skills
Ability to follow procedures precisely
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to multitask
Ability to weld and fabricate parts
Experience with basic electricity and motors
Ability to perform basic maintenance on farm equipment
