Description
DuPont Crop Protection is seeking several Biology interns to work at its Newark, Delaware, research
facility. These biology internships are temporary summer positions which will begin May/June and end in
August. Relocation will not be offered.
Responsibilities may include:
Watering of greenhouses and growth chambers and thinning of plant materials that will be used in
various tests.
Weigh out and prepare materials that are components of our testing program. These materials
may include such things as fertilizers used in our greenhouse programs, soils from around US
regions.
Weigh out experimental chemical samples and prepare these for testing.
Assist in setting up the spray machine for executing the test. Care for the test after treatment;
setting the test out in the greenhouse based upon the desired experimental design, and maintain
the test (inspect for insect and disease pests), note symptoms and record early observations.
Collection of data by acting initially as a recorder, then evaluate studies independently. Enter
data into spreadsheets or other databases and providing printouts of that data to the primary
investigator.
Summarize data using statistical programs and ultimately assist in preparing
presentations including digital photography.
Field studies including laying out plots, field plots maintenance, assistance on irrigation, weighing
out chemical treatments, calibration of spray equipment, mixing materials in the field for
application (actual application is done by licensed staff), assisting in identification of weed species
and assisting in the evaluation of test plots.
Enter data into existing databases and produce test summaries.

Qualifications
All candidates MUST meet the following qualifications for consideration in this student employment
program:
The right to work in the U.S. without restrictions
Currently enrolled as a full-time student at an accredited college or university
At minimum a Sophmore in an undergraduate Bachelor's degree program within one of the
following discipline-specific majors: biology, plant pathology, weed science or entomology, or a
related field of study.
A minimum of GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale)
Demonstrated ability to follow written and verbal instructions and to document activities in written
form
Demonstrated ability to document activities in written form.
In addition to the above qualifications, the candidate must demonstrate the following skills and interests:
Strong work ethic and the ability to deliver concrete project deliverables in a timely manner
Works well in an independent capacity and in a team environment

Biology/Plant Disease Control Intern - 5073130130
Description
DuPont Crop Protection is seeking a Biology intern to work at its Newark, Delaware, research facility
within the Plant Disease Control (PDC) group.
The mission of the PDC group is to discover new fungicide active ingredients qualified for commercial
development. Collectively, the team generates extensive biological results through a series of tiered
screens and special tests, interprets and reports the results and works in a multi-functional team
environment to identify and optimize new chemistry with fungicidal properties.
This internship is a temporary summer position which will begin in May or June and is slated to end in
August. While most of the work will be conducted within a laboratory/greenhouse setting, the intern will
have opportunities to work in the field at times. Relocation will not be offered.
Responsibilities under the direction of a Principal Investigator may include:
Participate in all aspects of Plant Disease Discovery screenings, including plant selection, formulation,
spraying of chemicals, bio-assay evaluation, data entry and analysis
Participate in the development and optimization of existing protocols.

Qualifications:
Full time student attending an accredited college or university

Skills:
Experience with safety practices associated with working in a laboratory environment is preferred
Background knowledge in plant pathology, microbiology, agricultural or plant sciences
Basic understanding of fungicides
Familiarity with bio-assays including test set-up, evaluation and data entry
Demonstrated ability to follow written and oral instructions
Flexibility and strong interpersonal skills with the desire to contribute towards team success

Description
DuPont Crop Protection is seeking a Biology intern to work at its Newark, Delaware research facility
within Herbicide Discovery. The mission of the Herbicide Discovery group is to discover new herbicide
active ingredients qualified for commercial development.
The Biology intern will work closely with research staff to create independent research projects related to
high-throughput-screen (HTS) optimization that includes species selection and methods of compound
application.
This internship is a temporary summer position which will begin in late May or early June and is slated to
end in August. Relocation will not be offered.
Responsibilities under the direction of a principal investigator may include:
Influence of formulation composition related to high-throughput-screen (HTS) applications of
chemicals to plants
Optimization of environmental factors related to growing plants in high-throughput-screens
Aiding with current screens to learn the process of herbicide discovery
Producing written reports and oral presentations of project results to research staff
