Illinois-Indiana Sea Grant announces the following positions for the 2013 Summer Student Internship Program. Successful applicants will spend 12 weeks working closely with a Sea Grant specialist on issues affecting the Great Lakes. Internships include research, communications and outreach components. Applicants will also have the opportunity to participate in activities outside of their specific internship duties.
For 2013, internships are available in the following areas:
- Sustainable Communities
- Aquatic Invasive Species (2 positions)
- Human Dimensions of Natural Resources
- Coastal Tourism for Lake Michigan
- River Restoration Database
- Great Lakes Education
Interns will be paid $10-$12/hour for 37.5 hours per week. Interns will be student employees of Purdue University except where noted. Some travel and/or weekend work may be expected. Interns are responsible for the cost of housing plus transportation to and from their work place. Work-related travel will be funded by the Sea Grant host. Applications packets are due on March 4, 2013. Successful applications will be notified of their acceptance by late March 2013. Internships are expected to start May 14, 2013 and end August 2, 2013.
