What is RSS?

  • RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. It's is an, easy way for you to receive up-to-date news about topics that interest you without the hassle of spam messages. Instead of visiting several Web sites every day the sites send information directly to you, on topics you indicate. RSS feeds usually contain article headlines, summaries and links back to the full-text article.

What tools do I need to use RSS?
  • To receive RSS feeds you need a program known as a "news reader" or "aggregator." The program displays RSS feeds from Web sites you select. Many of these RSS readers are available, some free of charge. There are also Web-based news readers. To find a reader, search for "RSS reader" or "RSS aggregator" in the search engine of your choice.

How do I subscribe to Purdue Agriculture's RSS?
