A Welcome from the Dean
These are exciting times to be a part of the agricultural, food, life, and natural resource sciences and the Purdue College of Agriculture! Recently ranked number 6 in the world by QS World University Rankings, our College’s learning, discovery, and engagement programs focus on some of the most pressing issues facing our world: food security and food safety, human and animal health, environmental and natural resource management, the bioeconomy, and agricultural competitiveness.
In 11 academic departments, Purdue Agriculture students study economics and business, agricultural education and communication, plant and animal sciences, biochemistry, entomology, food science, agricultural and biological engineering, landscape architecture, and forestry, wildlife, and aquatic sciences. Our graduates take leadership positions in a wide variety of industries, pursue dynamic research and academic careers, and work in public service in the US and internationally.
Through Purdue Extension, we serve the people of Indiana through 92 county offices. However, our work extends beyond the boundaries of our state to every corner of the world. The issues we tackle are global. The world our students are moving into is ever more connected. The depth and breadth of our College’s international portfolio and impact is exciting, with activities in more than 60 countries.
Our 2009-2014 strategic plan is entitled People, Purpose, Impact. The people of Purdue Agriculture – talented faculty, dedicated staff, and motivated students – working with our partners across campus, at other universities, with industry, and in government, make great things happen every day. As Boilermakers we have a motto: What we make moves the world forward. Nowhere is that more true than in the Purdue College of Agriculture. Come join us and help us move the world forward!
